I remember the first time I met Chuck's Dad and Brother. What an awesome group of men! We spent a Thanksgiving and a Father's Day dinner together. I have never met a more inclusive, loving family. My favorite memory is hearing the amazing stories of living abroad (I don't know if I am allowed to share those stories, so I will leave it there). I love and miss you all!
I don't have a lot of memories of Uncle Charlie growing up. Our family had Christmas Eve with that side (my Dad's) of the family most years. I do remember thinking Uncle Charlie was quite stern. Over the last several years I had the opportunity to get to know him all over again through visits with he and Chuck, and a few times Mark, at my Dad's house a couple of times a year. I discovered that he was not at all stern but in fact was quite funny, and even at times silly. His antics kept me laughing. I'm so glad to have had those later in life memories. Rest in peace Uncle Charlie. Thank you for your service.
I remember his boundless joy for life and his mischievousness. He brought a smile to everyone and was incredibly witty. He showered those he love with unconditional acceptance. I will always hold him close to my heart. I am so blessed he was a part of my life. Live your “Papa”!

I had the honor of working with Charlie in Nairobi, Kenya 1976-1978. He was one of the best co-workers one could have and became a lifelong friend. Fortunately for me, working with Charlie put me in touch with his entire family and what a pleasure that was. I spent my entire two years (when not at work) doing outings with them. We were on several safaris and spent a lot of time in Mombasa at a beach house. I remember one special time we were with an Indian friend that sped us along first in his car and then on a boat out to a little island in the Indian Ocean. When we weren't having fun at these outings, I was often at their house. I became very close to Gloria, Charlie's beautiful wife, and have always felt close to Chuck, Mark and Denise. I last saw Charlie when he came to visit in Vancouver. Sadly, life took all of us in different directions. and we didn't see each for a period of time. But I value all the great times we had together. Charlie's personality and love of life was a blessing for us all.
