Ruben was married to his devoted wife, Christina Betancourt, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and strong family values. He was the proud father of three children — daughters Theresa and Sandra, and son Mark. Ruben’s joy grew even deeper with his grandchildren: Marcelino, Jaziah, Victoria, and Jayvyn, and his great-grandson Julian, who brought light and happiness to his days.
Born and raised in Oxnard, Ruben grew up in a large and loving family of nine siblings. He was a man who valued peace, unity, and the importance of family. Known for his dedication to coaching baseball and softball, Ruben became a pillar in the Oxnard community — inspiring countless young players and leaving a lasting legacy on and off the field.
Beyond coaching, Ruben had a true passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed landscaping and found peace in tending to gardening — it was his sanctuary, a reflection of his care, patience, and love for life’s simple beauty.
Ruben was a die-hard Rams and Dodgers fan, and an avid WWE wrestling enthusiast. Whether he was watching his teams play, working on landscaping , or spending time with his loved ones, Ruben brought warmth, humor, and heart to every moment.
