Roy Kenneth Todd's Obituary
Roy Kenneth Todd, of Ventura, CA, passed away at Ojai Valley Continuing Care Center, after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease on November 8, 2025. He was 86 years old.
Roy was born to Frank and Marjorie Todd, in a little log-sided cabin in Canon City, Colorado on February 28, 1939. After his father’s passing in 1947, his Uncle George and Aunt Hazel Todd took him to live with them in Glendale, California.
Roy was 17 years old when he graduated, he then decided he wanted to travel and see the USA.
In 1958 Roy joined the US Army. After training, he was stationed at the 10th Coast Anti- Aircraft Artillery Battalion, Fairchild Air Force Base Washington, and 823rd Acquisition/ Warning Squadron at Geiger Field. In 1959 he deployed to the 5th Missile Battalion, 6th Artillery, in Idar – Oberstein, Germany. In 1961 Roy received his honorable discharge from the Army, returned to Spokane, Washington and married Nancy in June of that year.
Roy started his career with a finance company and later entered the banking field. And thus started a long and dedicated 60 years of Roy’s life in Banking, receiving many accolades. He enjoyed taking a personal interest in his clients and made many lasting relationships.
Longing for warmer weather, in 1966, the family moved to Ventura County where they have lived ever since.
Roy served in many civic organizations, the board of directors of the American Institute of Bankers, American Cancer Society and Ventura Trade Club. As a member of Ventura Lions Club, he initiated the “Cycle out Cancer” annual Bike a thon which raised money for cancer research.
Roy loved music. He was an active member of the Cabrillo Music Theatre of Ventura County and served on the board of directors. He was a charter member of the University Chorus at Cal State University Channel Islands and performed in the University’s first commencement ceremony.
Along with his love of music, he loved automobiles and had great appreciation. During his lifetime, he owned many specialty cars. He loved working on and restoring all kinds of cars. He also enjoyed camping and taking the family water skiing and boating. When Roy retired, he and Nancy enjoyed many trips around the Country. One of his proud accomplishments was riding in the famous Sea to Summit 100 – mile bike ride to the top of 5,000 Ft. Mt. Pinos for charity.
Roy loved the Lord and knew God had a plan and purpose for his life. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Ventura Missionary Church.
Roy is survived by his wife Nancy of 64 years, son Richard, daughter Kristina ( Andreas) Wedderein. Grandchildren, Shandra Todd, Tristan Wedderein and Aidan Wedderein. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Marjorie Todd, his Uncle George and Aunt Hazel, sisters Thelma and Janie.
A celebration of Roy’s life will be held at Ventura Missionary Church, 500 High Point Dr., Ventura, CA 93003 on December 13th, 2025, at 1:00pm. Due to allergies, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charitable organization of your choosing in Roy’s name.
