Michael John McMann Sr.'s Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce Michael John McMann of Oxnard passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2025.
Michael John McMann, a lifelong resident of Oxnard, was born on May 20, 1976, in Joplin, Missouri, to John and Teresa McMann. When Michael was just three months old, his family returned to Oxnard, where he would spend the rest of his life building deep roots and lasting relationships.
Michael was a devoted and loving life partner, father, and grandfather; a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and dear friend. His presence filled every room, and his love for his family was unmatched.
Michael shared 25 beautiful years of love and memories with his life partner and wife, Yolanda. Together, they built a life grounded in family, laughter, and unconditional love. His greatest pride and joy were his children: Alysa, Malysa, Michael Jr., Jaedin, Candyce, Joseph, Jasiah and Johnny. His grandchildren Alizriana, Ryder, and Chase, brought him immeasurable happiness. He eagerly awaited the arrival of another grandbaby expected in July, who will continue to carry on his legacy.
He was a proud older brother to his three sisters: Christina McMann-Gonzalez (Sam G.), Megan McMann (Sammy Vazquez), and Erica Pizaño (Kevin); whom he loved “99% of the time,” as he liked to joke. He adored his nieces and nephews Samuel, Andrew, and Maleah Gonzalez; Kiana, Isaiah, and Kaliah Vazquez; Malayah Navarro and Nathaniel Pizaño. As well as his great-nephews, Mateo and Elias.
Michael built a successful career in reinforcing rebar, construction, and ironwork. He spent many years with Ironworkers Local Union 416, where he proudly started as a rod buster before going on to become a foreman and later general contractor. Known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and dedication to his craft, Michael went on to mentor his sons, turning his skills and values into a family business, Haulin Handyman.
Mike, as those close to him would call him, loved spending quality time with family and friends. He enjoyed cooking and barbecuing great food, dancing to good music, and passionately rooting for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike also loved riding his Harley, spending time at the beach, and enjoying the ocean through surfing, boogie boarding, and skimboarding.
An avid sports lover, Michael was deeply involved in his children’s lives and activities. He coached his sons’ baseball teams for several years and was a devoted and famously loud supporter from the stands at football games. If you were there, you knew he was often louder than the announcer. He also coached his daughters’ softball teams and took great pride in watching his daughter cheerlead. Through his involvement in multiple sports organizations, Michael made a lasting impact on countless youth in the Oxnard community.
A true animal lover from a young age, Michael had many pets throughout his life and was especially devoted to his six dogs; Dodger, Blue, Harley, Daisy, Jack, and Foxy; who were constant companions and brought him great joy.
Michael’s kindness, genuine love for others, and larger-than-life personality will never be forgotten.
He is reunited in heaven with his beloved grandparents, John and Anna Marie Olcovich. Allen “Red” and Barbara McMann; his uncles, John Olcovich Jr., Allen McMann II; and his sister, Kaytlynn. Though deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Michael’s legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
