Melinda Carole Segovia's Obituary
Melinda Carole Segovia passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Michael Segovia, with whom she shared 25 wonderful years and three children. She was previously married to Jose Garnica for 27 years, and together they had four children.Born in Plantation, Florida, Melinda was the daughter of Shirley Hoffman and Charles Turner. She dedicated her life to caring for children, both as a Child Care Provider and a devoted Foster Care Parent. She found joy in spending time with her children and had a deep love for singing, dancing, and cooking delicious meals for her family. She will always be remembered for her strength, independence, and the unwavering love she had for those around her.Melinda is survived by her husband, Michael Segovia, and her former husband, Jose Garnica. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Fink; her daughters and sons-in-law, Christina Chastain (James Chastain), Angela Garnica (Eddie Escudero), Brittany Martinez (Osvaldo Martinez), and Sasha Segovia (Bryan Jimenez); her sons and daughters-in-law, Jose Garnica II (Gina Garnica) and Jordan Segovia (Marina Brambila).She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren, listed from oldest to youngest: Bailey Velasco, Joshua Barker-Chastain, Julianna Garnica, Jose Garnica III, Ian Chastain, Blake Chastain, Victoria Garnica, Damon Chastain, Madison Escudero, Issaiah Martinez, Aston Chastain, Dezi Chastain, Landon Escudero, Talia Martinez, Ezra Chastain, Raylan Segovia, Sebastian Escudero, and Aryia Martinez. Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandchild, Joseph Garnica Fry. As well as, numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, godchildren, and cherished family friends.She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Courtney Celeste Segovia (February 7, 1990), and her son, Ryan Garnica Segovia (February 7, 2022), as well as her mother, Shirley Hoffman; her father, Charles Turner; her great-grandparents, Emily and Aaron Heidemann; and her sister, Cindy Jernigan.Please join us for the Memorial Service honoring Melinda, on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Somis Church, located at 3300 West Street, Somis, CA 93066. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
