Linda Batchelder Bratz's Obituary
Linda made her sacred transition to spirit on May 24th, 2026 in the city of her residence in Camarillo, CA. She remained gracious, kind, and friendly throughout her challenging journey with Parkinsons disease.
She was born on April 29th, 1939 in Los Angeles, CA to Ellen and Dean Batchelder. She grew up in La Habra, CA, and graduated from La Habra High School. She continued her education at the University of California Los Angeles, and later taught elementary school in the Fullerton school district before retiring and moving to Ventura, CA.
She had a great love for playing the piano, gardening, swimming, hiking, and camping. One of her favorite trips was to China as part of a course of study in geology.
The beaches of California held a special place in her heart and soul. She spent many hours exploring the tide pools with her children and grandchildren.
Her first marriage was to Rito Rios, a Korean War veteran, and a graduate of the University of California Los Angeles. She later met her second husband David Bratz, with whom she continued to have many adventures camping, hiking, and traveling all over the USA and to other countries. Together, they enjoyed being a part of their vibrant church community. She and David also volunteered with the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and other organizations.
She is survived by her sister Gay Versteeg (Jim), daughters Kathryn E. Rios and Kristin M. Jimenez, and grandson Miguel A. Provencio, Tyler Jimenez and Drake Jimenez.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be offered on July 11th, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Camarillo United Methodist Church, 291 Anacapa Dr., Camarillo, CA 93010
Please note that Linda's service will be held jointly with that of her husband, David Bratz, who passed away the following week after Linda.
