Kathy Arlene Fuller Roche's Obituary
Kathy Arlene Fuller Roche (1963-2024)
Kathy Arlene Fuller Roche, age 60, of Ventura, California, died at Coastal View Healthcare center with her mother and youngest son at her side on June 15th, 2024. She was a determined woman that always tried her best for those around her. As a Southern California native Kathy was an avid camper from an early age, she was part of Campfire Girls. In her recent years she just enjoyed camping at the beach relaxing under an umbrella.
Kathy was born in Newhall, Ca in 1963 to Willis Edward Fuller and Rose Darlene Phillips Fuller, her loving parents traveled the California Coast to the Bay and across the American South and Southwest both in Wills semi-truck and the family car. Kathy was most fond of the Pear blossom Highway in inland Southern California. Kathy and her mother Darlene share a deep love for Chocolate, edified through a joke menu on the wall that offered only chocolate dessert and Diet Coke. The Fuller family lived in Sylmar, Ca until the earthquake, soon after the family moved to Ventura, Ca.
Kathy attended Buena High school before Studying Early Childhood education at California State University Channel Islands, graduating as Summa Cum Laude in 2005. She went on to work as a long-term substitute teacher for Ventura Unified School District, as an intervention teacher for Rio School District in Oxnard, and her private tutoring service. Kathy loved making a difference in the lives of young children at risk of falling behind. In 2020 Kathy left teaching to ensure that her Granddaughter did not fall behind in school due to the Covid 19 pandemic and in the years after. Family was everything to Kathy, which is immortalized by her love of scrapbooking and photography.
Kathy found the love of her life, Christopher Paul Rochè in 1980 through their church activities. Chris fell in love with Kathy most when she corrected a youth minister, Kathy had studied this topic for the Bible bowl team earlier that year. The couple got engaged in the spring of 1982 and married on September 18th, 1982, at the Victorian Rose Chapel in Ventura California. Kathy and Chris started a family of their own and had five children together. They are Alysha Jacquelien, Kayla Renee, Jamie Elizabeth, Andrew Tyler, and lastly Jeremiah Edward. The family camped often, with their Grandparents Will and Darlene from an early age, and with their kids later in life. Kathy loved being a mom, a teacher, and a scrap booker but her favorite role in life was being a grandmother to her five grandchildren, Gideon, Ezekiel, Charlotte, Elijah Cline, and Sophia Rochè. Always going wild for Christmas and making all the costumes for Halloween for many years. Kathy loved taking her Golden retriever Fuller to the beach to play fetch and walk in the water. Kathy was always a dog person as she was allergic to cats, and fish did not like her.
Kathy became friends with Kathy Hodges McKean over 50 years ago in elementary school. They were inseparable friends from then on through campfire girls, camping trip, getting their licenses, driving to the beach on the city streets in Kathy R's Fiat Spider even when the starter went out. The two friends went on to be each other's maids of honor at their respective weddings. The two Kathy's even worked together as housekeepers and always worked together to finish working at the same time to go sit at the beach with a milkshake, truly the dearest of friends. If you were lucky enough to be called a friend, then you knew the truth of a beautiful and loyal friendship. Not many people can say they were best friends for over 50 years but these two were.
Kathy devoted many years to the Buena Music Association while her eldest daughter Alysha and Kayla were in the Color Guard. She later helped fundraise for the Buena Football Boosters with her youngest son Jeremiah. Kathy will always be remembered for her strong will, her commitment, and the way that she would speak so freely. We will always remember the way she spoke, and those random few words spoken with a southern drawl. Kathy was the best mom, partner, and friend she could be, and we will miss her every day. Her memory lives on through the echoes left in all our hearts and minds.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father Willis Fuller, her sister's Wanda Caudill and Michele Geotes, and is survived by her mother Darlene, Sisters Anna Giossi and Yvonne Johnson, Brothers O'dell (Linda) Fuller, Stanely (Treva) Fuller, Kenneth (Korwyn), her loving husband Christopher, daughters Alysha (Douglas) Ragan, Kayla (Henry)Cline, Jamie, Tyler and, Jeremiah Roche, her five grandchildren, and her dear friends.
On the 6th of July 2024, a funeral service will be held at 11am at the Ivy lawn Memorial Chapel of Camarillo located at 1075 E Daily Drive, Camarillo, Ca 93010. All are welcome, especially if Kathy or her family has had an impact on your life, come celebrate the life she lived.
