JoAnn Carol Kennedy's Obituary
JoAnn Carol Kennedy, peacefully passed away from this life and went to be with her Lord on May 14, 2025 at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura. She was 79 years old.JoAnn was born on October 22, 1945, in San Francisco, CA to Joe and Myra Capurro. JoAnn spent most of her youth growing up in Stockton, CA where she worked very hard on her education, later earning acceptance to Sacramento State University, majoring in Education and English Arts. She used that education to become a teacher in 1968, teaching 5th grade for 32 years, but not before earning her master's degree for Arts in Education from Azusa Pacific University in 1981. JoAnn gave 32 years of service to the Rio School District in El Rio, CA. Majority of her teaching career spent at Rio Plaza Elementary School, where she was loved by all her students and faculty.JoAnn loved traveling with her husband and son. She enjoyed classical music and spent decades of her life paying piano for herself and anyone who would listen.She looked forward to spending time with family, sharing life lessons and her knowledge with her grandchildren, hearing about your day and being surrounded by her cats.JoAnn is no longer in pain and has left us to be with the Lord whom she loved very much. She will always be deeply missed by her husband, family, friends and the children whose lives she changed. It would bring her great comfort to know she was surrounded by family when she slipped away from this earth at the young age of 79.JoAnn is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Harold E. Kennedy, whom she adored. She is also survived by her son Eric Kennedy, daughter in law Allyssa Kennedy, son and daughter in law; Craig and Monica Kennedy, grandchildren; Robert and Jayden Kennedy, Austin and Grace Kennedy, Brother Kevin Karamitros, Bruce, Caroline and Joshua Kennedy.JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Myra Capurro, birth mother Olympia Karamitros, and her Brother Tim Karamitros.Everyone is invited to join the family in honoring JoAnn at her funeral service on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, at the Ivy Lawn Funeral Home, 1075 E. Daily Dr., Camarillo, CA 93010 at 10am. Burial will immediately follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd., Camarillo, CA 93012.
