Our family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated teams at USC Norris Cancer Hospital and City of Hope Cancer Center. Their compassion, kindness, and tireless care gave us precious additional time with Jesus—time we will cherish forever.
Jesus is survived by his devoted wife, Alma, and children: David (Melissa), Benjamin, and Jesus (Ana). He was a proud grandfather to Vanessa, Chris, Micheal, Faith, Jaden, Sophia and great grandfather to Jadyn, Lylah, Alani, Jizelle and Aria. He is also survived by his mother, Ma. Rita Mora Cortez and his siblings: Antonio (Analupe), Jose Maria (Martha), Joel (Maria Guadalupe), Mario (Josefina), and Oswaldo (Mariela), Amanda (✞Juan Manuel), Andrea (Salvador) as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly. He was proceeded in death by his father: Jose Maria Maldonado Medina, brother: Esteban, godsons Jesus and Joel Maldonado.
Born in Jalisco, Mexico, Jesus came to the United States at just 12 years old. From a young age, he worked hard to help his family. Over the years, he held many jobs: his favorite being mechanic.
Jesus had a presence that filled every room. He was the one everyone turned to when something needed fixing whether it was a car, a household project, or simply a moment that needed his guidance and care. He enjoyed making his Christmas ribs, a loved family tradition.
One of Jesus’s greatest joys was cheering for the LA Dodgers, a passion he shared with family and friends. He also loved visiting his hometown of Refugio Paderones, camping with loved ones, and taking long walks and peaceful drives with his wife—moments when his love, kindness, and unwavering strength shone most to her.
Jesus will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to have known him and all whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, generosity, and hard work will live through those he leaves behind. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will remain with us—in every shared meal, every moment of laughter, and every act of kindness inspired by the way he lived.
