Jess Gonzales' Obituary
A resident of Ventura, California passed away on March 30", 2023 he is preceded in death by his wife Lucy Margret Gonzales of 34 years, together they shared in the experience of a blended family of 10 children.Jess joined the United States Airforce in 1952 serving his country proudly, a career spanning 9 years. While in service Jess earned the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, and the Longevity Service Award.Upon his retirement from the Military Jess worked for the United States Post Office as a Mail Clerk, during that time he served as a Union Representative, retiring in 2000.Jess played an active role in his grandchildren's lives, by volunteering in their school, sport activities, home life, and supporting various extracurricular activities.As a retiree Jess volunteered with the Oxnard Rescue Mission to provide Holiday Meals, taking his grandchildren with him to encourage volunteerism and empathy towards our fellow man.Jess joined the Ventura Moose Lodge #1394 in 2002, an organization serving those in need within local communities thru volunteerism that promotes the care of children and the elderly thru Mooseheart and Moosehaven.As a 21 year member in good standing, Jess held many positions of leadership, Historical Chairman Trustee Officer, Prelate Officer, Moose Family Activities Chairman, Mooseheart and Moosehaven. Chairman, Governor, Junior Governor, Junior Past Governor, Government Relations Chairman, Ritual Chairman and Treasury Officer.A hobby that Jess enjoyed in retirement was gardening and attempting to cultivate Bonsai trees, and cactus, unfortunately his only success was with the cacti.Jess leaves behind his loving children, grandchildren and Great Grandchildren
