Frances "Mamaw" Hambrick's Obituary
Frances "Mamaw" Hambrick of El Dorado, Arkansas, passed away in the arms of her beloved husband of 64 years at 4:30 AM,May 29, 2024, in Ojai, California, at the age of 84. Frances was born on July 17, 1940, and her sweet and tender heart was evident to all who knew her. Her early life was marked by overcoming loss and facing adversity. Becoming almost blind as a result of a failed surgery on her eyes, she entered the Arkansas School for the Blind at age 9.
Frances met Alton "Lloyd" Hambrick, at the school for the blind, and they became childhood friends in the fourth grade. Eventually they became teenage sweethearts. Frances was a cheerleader, while Lloyd excelled in wrestling and track. After their graduation they became husband and wife and lifelong companions for 64 years. After giving birth to Their son Michael, they made the move to California.Their son, Mike, and his wife, Karen, gave them four grandchildren: Bradly, Maxwell, Wesley, and granddaughter, Claire. Great-grandchildren Stieg and Emlyn completed this loving family.
France's was an accomplished seamstress and cook, known for her delicious chocolate pies, bun cakes, and carrot cake. Her homemade carrot cake was so beloved that it even made its way onto a fine restaurant's menu in Nevada City.
A ceremony in memory of Frances "Mamaw" Hambrick will be held at Ivy Memorial Cemetery on June 10 at 1:00 PM. Ivy Memorial Cemetery, located at 5400 Valentine Rd. in Ventura, CA, is assisting with the funeral arrangements. Frances will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
