Fernand George Marchais' Obituary
Fernand “George” Marchais, born August 2, 1936, crossed the veil from this life on May 30th 2026, at 89 years old due to ailments related to age. George was born the son of Frances and Fernand Marchais in Flushing, New York and moved with his family to Ventura at 13 years of age. Having graduated from Ventura High School, George went right into the US Navy for a single tour, before starting his 31-year career with the Southern California Gas Company. George also volunteered as a City of Ventura Police Reserve Officer, advancing to the rank of Sergeant. George and his growing family, including his wife, Mary Alice, and three children, Naamon, Erroll, and Valerie moved from Oak View to Oxnard where they lived for 18 years. George retired from the Gas Company at age 55 in 1991 and he moved with the family back to Ventura (where he said he’d never move from again because it has the best weather in the world) and started a computer consulting business called George Marchais and Associates with his son, Erroll. George and his best friend, Cliff Shout, bought a 30-foot sailboat and they earned their Coastal Cruising Certificate through Channel Islands Sailing. He loved being back out on the ocean re-living his days in the Navy as a young man and puttering around on his boat at Channel Islands Harbor for a number of years. As his business began to take off in the mid-90’s he became the founding partner in PJP Datacomm, Inc. and helped to build that business until it sold in the summer of 2024. George was preceded in death by his mom, Frances, and his dad, Fernand Marchais, as well as his beloved granddaughter Alice Sinclair Marchais. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Alice Marchais, his oldest son Naamon Marchais, his middle son Erroll Marchais (Jeanette Marchais) and his youngest daughter Valerie Marchais Barroso (Johnny Barroso) along with grandchildren Shanelle Silva, Bree Tatum Marchais, Justin and Mason Barroso, Chaplin, Noah, Joshua and Giselle Marchais and five great-grandchildren. A Celebration of life will be held Saturday June 6th, 11:00am to 1:pm at the club house in Lemonwood Mobile Home Park, 850 Johnson Drive, Ventura California (Please park on Johnson Drive and walk through the gate to the Club House).
