Duane E. Morehead's Obituary
Duane Morehead, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023 at the well lived age of 90. He was born in Kansas on October 23, 1932, youngest son of Archie and Nina Morehead. Duane lived the first seventeen years of his life in Kansas before joining the US Navy. During the time he was stationed in Naples, Italy, he met his wife, Rosa.Duane was a Seabee veteran that served proudly for 30 years. He spoke of his fellow Seabees as family, having spent four deployments in Vietnam in MCB-10 out of Port Hueneme, California. He simply loved being a Seabee, which was evident in the many stories that he shared with his children, family and friends, even ones he had just met.
When he retired from his services in the US Navy in 1972, his next "call of duty" was taking care of his family, closer to home. He pursued his knowledge of automotives and started his second career as a mechanic. Just as he was respected and decorated for his performance in the military, he became a well-liked and respected mechanic that was loved by many in the community. Interacting with customers, sharing his expertise of cars as well as a good joke or a story from his time as a Seabee were highlights of his every day.
His patience and compassion for people as well as animals were two of his strongest qualities and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Vicki Joe and his son, Mark. He is survived by his wife Rosa; his daughter, Pat and son in law, James; son, Gianfranco; son, Carlo and family; son, Gary; son, Steve; daughter, MaryLou; son, Paul and daughter in law, Shelly; his grandchildren: Valerie, Vicki Jo, Candice, Adriana, Monique, Joshua, Lawna, Michel, Nicole, Tiffany, Joseph, Mark, Chad, Natalie, Lola, Jeremy, Mychal, Zachary, Kailee, Alyssa and Tristan and 30 great grandchildren.
