Casey Samuel Walker's Obituary
Our beloved son Casey Samuel Walker passed peacefully on October 25, 2025 surrounded by family after a 22-year battle with brain cancer. He was 38 years old, born January 9, 1987 at Ojai Hospital weighing just shy of 10 lbs. Casey had a fun and adventurous childhood that included waterskiing, dirt bike riding, playing sports, 4x4 trucking, and so much more. Casey was a cheerful easy-going boy who grew into a sweet “gentle giant” of a man. His life was forever changed in 2003 at age 16 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He had many good years when he seemed fine, but also had many recurrences that always required a new treatment. He bravely faced all the years of surgeries, chemo and radiation treatments with a positive attitude.
Casey graduated from Nordhoff High School in 2005, after having his first of four “awake craniotomies” at UCLA earlier that year. He finished his senior year with a home teacher and was able to graduate with his class. He realized his goal of attending Wyoming Technical Institute where he earned an Occupational Associate in Automotive Technology in 2006. During his working years he was employed as a mechanic at: Ojai Valley Inn, Hillbilly Golf Carts, Gold Coast Area Transit, Maxwell Automotive, Valley Tire, and Ventura Toyota. In the last few years while unable to work, he enjoyed helping out his many friends with their cars and trucks or any other project he could do. He was the always available friend with a truck and tools that we all wish to have!
Casey loved his family, country music, big trucks, cheesecake, and his dog Kona - who has been by his side for 14 years. He also loved his friends, many of whom he has known since preschool, and he especially liked being “Uncle Casey” to their kids. He enjoyed game nights with family and visiting with and helping his friends of all generations, young and old. All who knew Casey know what a sweet, kind, and funny person he was. We are left with a Casey-size hole in our hearts.
He is survived by his mother Ruth Walker, father Roger Walker and stepmother Billye Bonsworth, sister Nicolette Walker-Itza, niece Ixchel Itza, aunt Betsy George, paternal grandmother Helen Walker, maternal grandfather Jim Churchyard, as well as many extended family members.
Casey accepted God into his life and chose to be baptized this year. We are comforted by knowing that he has gone home to the Lord and will be with beloved family and friends that have left this earth before him.
Memorial service to be held November 22, 2025 11:00am at Ivy Lawn Cemetery immediately followed by an afternoon Celebration of Life at 222 S. Padre Juan Ave., Ojai. Please come to share and listen to stories about Casey.
