Andrew Joseph Martinez was born on April 6, 1993 in Ventura, He passed away at home on July 9, 2023, in Ventura, after spending his final day at Faria Beach surrounded by his loving family. Andrew was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, grandson, uncle, and friend.
Andrew is survived by his mother, Sandy Ertman Martinez, father, Andy Martinez, and stepmother, Dacia Martinez. He is also survived by his sisters, Malorie Martinez and Kiana Viramontes, along with nephew, Jackson and niece, Tali. Andrew's paternal grandmother, Dolores (Lola) Husted, and step-grandpa Brian Husted, held a special place in his heart. He will be dearly missed by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Martinez family: Uncle Abel Martinez, Michaela & Jason Harris, Sean & Stephanie Frank, Aunt Rhonda & Rick Cressy, Erica Cressy, Emily & Craig Spreeman, Hannah Cressy, Aunt Arlene & Vince Arve, Brett Arve & Natalie, Matt Arve, Aunt Liza & Frank Brooks, Monique & Jon Ochoa, and Marissa Brooks. On Andrew's maternal side, he is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins as well: Uncle Jim and Jeanie Ertman, Matt & Stephanie Ertman, Avery & Reagan Ertman, Eric & Jill Ertman, Aunt Chris Ertman, Uncle John Ertman, Cindy Ertman, Britton & Cheron Ertman, Sage Ertman, Austin Ertman, Aunt Jan Ertman, Michael Brady, Ciara & Hailey Brady, Uncle Mike & Nikki Ertman, Joe & Ellie Ertman, Aunt Julie Ertman, Alexandra Ertman, and Jax, Axel, & Roxy Ertman.
Andrew was preceded in death by his Grandpa Abel Martinez, Grandpa Henry (Hank) Ertman, Grandma Eleanor Ertman, and cousin Cooper Spreeman.
Andrew attended Ventura Unified schools: Junipero Serra Elementary, Balboa Middle School and Buena High School, where he graduated in 2012. During and following his education, Andrew dedicated 15 years of his life to working as a cement mason for his father's business, A & A Concrete.
Anyone who either knew Andrew or came across his path, will always remember his huge grin, kind heart, and of course, the numerous stories of his never ending antics. Throughout his life, Andrew was always his unapologetic authentic self. He will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him. Today, we can all be comforted knowing that Andrew is no longer suffering and is finally at peace.
Currently, only private services are planned for Andrew. At a future date to be determined, the family will host a celebration of life, where friends, family, and loved ones can gather to honor Andrew's memory. In lieu of flowers and/or gifts, the family kindly requests that donations/checks be made out to the Buena Bulldog Football Boosters, 5670 Telegraph Road, Ventura, CA 93003, Attn: Ryan Bolland. Andrew had a deep love for football and wore his Buena Bulldog jersey with pride for 4 years. Contributing to the booster club would be a meaningful way to honor his passion and memory.
