Al E Fox's Obituary
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we report the passing of Al Fox, who passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026 while hospitalized, following a heart procedure. He was 88 years old.
Al was born in Dora, Missouri on January 20, 1938, to Enoch and Nancy Fox. After graduating high school, Al joined the United States Navy on December 13, 1956, as a seaman recruit. It wasn’t long before he was promoted to a Petty Officer First Class. At that rank he was actually holding down a Lieutenant’s billet in logistics, and his hard work did not go unnoticed, for Al was then promoted to a Chief Warrant Officer, and later Lieutenant.
In 1960, while running the naval fuel farm at Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington, Al met his beautiful bride “Cindy” and they were happily married ever since. While also at NAS Whidbey Island, their daughter Nancy was born.
His duty stations included two aircraft carriers” USS Ticonderoga and the USS Kitty Hawk, where he served as the Fuel Officer during the Vietnam War.
He also did tours in Guam for three years, Washington State, San Diego and Point Magu Naval Air Station.
For Al’s last two tours of duty, he was assigned to the Antarctic Development Squadron Six (VXE-6) out of Point Magu Naval Air Station. VXE-6 operated on the continent of Antarctica, it was the US Navy’s only unit directly supporting the mission of Polar research and scientific programs as a joint agency agreement between the Departments of Defense, Navy, Air Force and National Science Foundation.
After 21 years of service, Al retired as a US Navy Lieutenant on January 13, 1977. At that time, he began his second career in real estate, and opened “Al Fox Realty”, which at one time boasted the title of #1 Real Estate Company in Ventura County with 5 offices in Camarillo, Oxnard and Ventura, as well as being honored by his peers as “Realtor of the Year” in 1994.
Al served on numerous Realtor Association committees for the Camarillo Board of Realtors including President of the board. He served as chairman and a member of the Ventura County Coastal Association of Realtors “Professional Standards Committee”, and was a Certified Mediator. He was elected to the Camrosa Water District board of directors, and served on the Ventura County Special Districts Association, and the Association of Water Agencies of Ventura County (AWA) for many years as a director and past president.
In 2024, Al was honored by the Pleasant Valley Historical Society as a Camarillo Don for his exemplary work and citizenship in Camarillo. Al served on many Leisure Village committees and was instrumental in establishing the use of reclaimed water to irrigate the 200 acres of landscape common area of Leisure Village.
Al is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in law, 11 siblings and many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 66 years, “Cindy”, daughter: Nancy and granddaughter Sarah. Al is also survived by his brother Fred Fox, sister – in - Law Verona Hobbs and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral service for Al, which will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 71 Loma Dr, Camarillo, CA 93010, on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 10am.
